Santiago!

La Moneda

Santiago, Chile

Today we woke up and went to Santiago. It was a good hour and a half ride there. We pretty much immediately went to the stock exchange called Bolsa Comercio. We had a little presentation and video and then we got to see the stock room. It was interesting to see the tables where years ago people handled their stocks all together in the room. After that we saw la Moneda and looked at different crafts things. We also saw a large church called the Cathedral that was gorgeous.

We then walked to Market Central (Mercado Central) which is just a giant fish market. We had reservations inside, but we couldn't find the restaurant and one of the owners who realized we were American offered us free pisco sours and began to sing "Born in the USA!" It was hilarious. Finally, we found our restaurant and had some delicious fish. We got like 16 courses of food and everything was wonderful, although I still wasn't crazy enough to try the clams. Maybe next time.

After lunch we saw a couple more sights of Santiago. We also rode another incline type thing. This incline went much higher! At the top there were several shops and I saw a cat take on 3 dogs. It was a tad frightening.

Tomorrow we go to Isla Negra and I have heard it is beautiful!
